Music curates a rather interesting library of music from Austria,
Germany, Slovenia, and many other countries. I have accrued this
library from my trips around the USA and around the world and also from
individuals who have contributed to this ever-growing collection in an
effort to preserve these cultures. There is no charge to anyone who
wishes to use the library. If anyone wants to use the resources of my
library or wishes to contribute recordings, music sheets or books,
please contact me by mail, phone or e-mail. Contact Al Meixner
- The food, the beer, the music, the friends - The whole
world knows the message it sends... Wurstfest
is Wunderbar!!!
In 2006 the Trio performed all of our shows at the Big Tent & everyone was super. The audience couldn't have been more receptive. Berndt gave us great sound. (So did T.J. & Troy at the small tent) The staff, the support crew & the Opahs made sure all went smoothly and it's always great to see our musician friends every year. By the way, Ed Klancnik was Mr. Drummer on this trip & he did his usual fine job. This year we supplied the music for Good Morning America & Good Morning San Antonio which was broadcast live from Wurstfest on Friday, November 3rd.
We also had private engagements at Canyon Lake on November 2nd (Thanks Jim & Bob) and in Houston on November 11th (Thanks Dave & Susan). The trip was long & laboring but the audience response made it all worthwhile.
- Happy 50th wedding anniversary to Bob & Shirley
Booz. The Al Meixner Trio (plus Don Lipovac) had the honor of
entertaining their well wishers at a nice get-together. (Note:) Lipovac
must have sauerkraut juice in his bloodstream - he never played so much
German-Austrian music at one time in his life!!!
- Well, our 25th anniversary bash for the radio show was
everything we hoped it would be. Don Lipovac dazzled the audience. I
didn't think polka people could sit quietly for 45 minutes but Don
proved me wrong. The "all you care to eat" meal at Copeechan was
superb. Alex, Rick & myself gave the attendees lots of dance
music & Don joined us for the last set. We even had pogatcherln
for appetizers !!! (Compliments of me & Anna)
A good time was had by all - can't wait for the 50th anniversary !!!
REVIEWS
- "Heck, that's (the Al Meixner Trio) a cookin' rock band
with ACCORDIONS IN YOUR FACE! "
Rock musician that followed the Al Meixner Trio at the Great Southwest Oktoberfest in Tucson, AZ
- " Wow! The Meixners. They're the real deal folks. Great
entertainers and fabulous accordionists. This trio put out twice the
music as Sturr's 13 piece band, no fooling."
Mark Rubin, bass player with Mark Halata & Texavia at Wurstfest in Texas.
- "The best band we saw at the Irondeqoit, NY Oktoberfest
was the Al Meixner Trio, from Pennsylvania. I didn't think it was
possible to be cool in lederhosen, but Alex proved me wrong. They did
an astonishing take off on the Charlie Daniels' song The Devil Went
Down to Georgia, with accordions instead of fiddles. It'll be a long
time before we hear that sort of fantastic playing again. It was their
first year at Irondequoit's Oktoberfest. We'll be hoping to see them
back soon."
Linda, the Junk Store Cowgirl, Greece Post, Greece, NY
- "The Al Meixner Trio provided the perfect polka ingredient
in the Minnesota State Fair this year. Everybody loved you guys! I give
you our five star highest rating. Thanks for being so much fun to
present, and enjoy."
Nate Dungan, Entertainment Supervisor - Minnesota State Fair
- "The Al Meixner Trio thoroughly entertained the crowd with
a dazzling array of musicianship and showmanship. We were amazed that a
band with only three guys could give us such an incredible show."
Musikfest - Bethlehem, PA
- "The Al Meixner Trio is popular with young audiences as a
form of alternative music but appreciated by older enthusiasts seeking
to preserve and identify with their ethnic heritage. "
Ithaca College News - Ithaca, NY
- "These tremendous entertainers played and sang every type
of music imaginable. They're just fantastic people and performers."
Colorado Polka Days
- "It's nice to hear a group that mixes really good continental dance music with an authentic ethnic repertoire." Sandpiper Country Club - Lakeland, FL
