Hello music lovers and ancestral cultural appreciates,
I have a rather large library of international music from Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Leutonia, and many other countries on 78s, 45s, LPs, cassette tapes and CDs. (over 10,000 sound recordings) There is also much printed music available for anyone to use. (15 file cabinets of printed music) American polka music (artists from A to Z) is also included.
I have built this library from numerous trips around the USA and around the world and also from individuals who have contributed to this ever-growing collection in an effort to preserve the musical beauty of these cultures.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2016, I AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW ENTRIES OF RECORDED OR PRINTED MUSIC FOR MY LIBRARY. I DO NOT HAVE THE NEEDED SPACE TO INVENTORY MORE ITEMS CORRECTLY.
By sending copies of my archival recordings to appreciative listeners I feel I’m doing my part to try to preserve the rich cultural heritage of my ancestors and the ancestors of my friends. I am especially interested in corresponding with younger people with children so that the parents can expose their children to the music and culture of their grandparents and great-grandparents. Showing how the folk music from Europe has evolved in the USA is also interesting to me.
There is no charge to anyone who wishes to use the library. I do this labor of love at my own expense and am not sponsored or underwritten by any benefactor or organization. If anyone wants to use the resources of this library or wishes to contribute recordings, music sheets or books, please contact me by e-mail. Thank You, AL MEIXNER
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: AT THIS TIME, I AM ENTERTAINING OFFERS BY INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS or ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN UNDERTAKING THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF PRESERVING THE MUSIC AND CULTURES OF THE NATIONALITIES THAT I HAVE BEEN ARCHIVING FOR MANY YEARS.
( It’s getting to be too much for one individual and I need the help. )
